Tom Gilmore

Tom Gilmore started Freediving in 2013 with his daughter and team mate, Meghan Gilmore While working as a divemaster with Dive Locker of Panama City Beach, Tom became aware of the joys and dangers of freediving. Wanting to learn more, Tom took the PFI Intermediate Freediver course. Four months later, Tom became an instructor and started competing at Deja Blue 6 in 2015. With dedication and training, he set the USA National Record in the pool discipline Dynamic No Fins in 2016 at Deja Blue 7.

Tom grew up in Deerfield, Illinois and is a resident of Panama City Beach, Florida. His love of the water started in the swimming pool and eventually took him to the coast. Tom was a NCAA Swimming All American while competing for his alma mater, The United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. After graduation Tom served as a nuclear engineer on Nimitz Class aircraft carriers and currently works as a software engineer for the US Navy.

Tom is looking forward to the upcoming AIDA Team World Championships, “I feel so lucky to represent my country with TEAM USA this year with my daughter, Meghan. We have had the most amazing adventure thus far in this sport and made so many close friends. We are blessed in so many ways and grateful to be with the wonderful athletes chosen this year to represent TEAM USA.”
